Project Management; Making property renovation look easy.

Independent construction project manager and owner of this stunning Grade II listed property made this renovation and refurbishment look easy. Last week photographer Lucy and I had the enviable job of popping over to Tetsworth for a cup of coffee with Gemma and her husband Nick, to chat about the process and to take a peek at the recently finished project, dressed for Christmas and looking fabulous!

This former Parsonage, commissioned in 1846 by John W Peers, Vicar of Tetsworth, from 1841 to 1876, remains heaving with period features, which have been given a whole new lease of life. Several sash windows and French doors were replaced or restored by BarrJoinery and original window shutters, marble mantle pieces, the magnificent mahogany staircase, decorative fireplaces, paneled doors, original skirting and decorative cornices are complimented by Gemma’s classic contemporary style.

After stripping out, rewiring, plumbing and plastering the interior was re-fitted and decorated throughout. Marble bathrooms, free standing baths (at jaunty angles), dramatic lighting and sumptuous fabrics all come together to give this classic period property a stunning contemporary twist. For me the piece de resistance is the copper dressed and glass tilled downstairs WC! For many high specification property renovations the project manager is the first person the client meets and the last person to leave at the end - guiding the client through everything from finding an architect, builder and interior designer, to helping them hone their ideas, source materials and prioritise their requirements. No wonder Gemma made this project look easy ; the StuartBarrCDR team very much enjoyed being a part of this project.
